Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick Review

Hello again!

Today I am going to be reviewing the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks. Whilst in America early this year I purchased 5 of the now 18 liquid lipsticks available. After spending ages looking at them online to decide which I wanted & spending equally as long in the store deciding which I liked best, I bought Pure Hollywood, Lovely, Vintage, Sad Girl & American Doll. I was really excited to get these as I had never used a liquid lipstick before & they looked amazing! These retail at $20 so approximately £13.

Packaging
So I really like the external packaging for these as they are really classy yet simple to a degree. They had the logo & "Anastasia Beverly Hills"  in metallic rose gold writing on the front with matching logo at one end of the packaging & the colour name on the other end. I absolutely love the rose gold. The logo is really pretty as it reminds me of a butterfly. At the opposite end there is metallic silver writing on the front. I love the combination of the two metallic.

The liquid lipsticks themselves had the same silver & rose gold colour combination going on which is nice as there is consistency between product & packaging. Although I do like the packaging I think the pattern on rose gold makes the product look a little cheap. I love how clear it is to see the colour as plain clear plastic has been used.

One thing that I wasn't impressed about was that on the lipsticks the rose gold scratches away quite easily which you don't expect when paying for a high quality product as it makes the product appear cheap. I have used this product 2-3 times so far & as you can see it is already looking a little tatty just by having it in my bag.

Application & Finish
Application is pretty good with these liquid lipsticks. They have a lipgloss applicator to ensure precise application. Sometimes a little too much comes out on the applicator but this is easily fixed by removing some excess & obviously as the product gets used there will be less on the applicator. Apart for Sad Girl they all go on perfectly in one coat. They don't dry instantly so you have a little play time to get a really perfect application.

The finish of these liquid lipsticks is very matte. I find these to be a little more drying than other brands such as the Lime Crime liquid lipsticks that I have previously blogged about but they aren't overly drying so it wasn't much to worry about.

Removal & Wear
I found that after a few hours the product begins to wear away towards the wet line of the mouth & become a bit bitty so my advise would be, don't go out without it in your bag to touch it up if you are going out somewhere, especially darker colours!

Removal, you definitely need a good remover as this product goes severywhere! It smudges when you wipe & will leave a nice tinge to your skin if you don't remove it properly.

So you can see it really smudges & does need a good scrub to get off fully. I would recommend Bioderma Sensobio Micellaire Water. This is a really gentle remover & cleanser which is sensitive on the skin. I love this product for use as a cleanser & also a remover.

Colour Swatches
I got a range of colours to try & they are all equally lovely but some colours are definitely more suited for certain skin types & looks. These swatches are still wet as they are applied thickly so this is not the finish of the product. The finish is really matte once dried.

Left to Right
Pure Hollywood, Lovely, Vintage, Sad Girl, American Doll

Pure Hollywood
Pure Hollywood is a pale pink nude colour. I was so excited to try this colour as it looked gorgeous on so many people but for me I really didn't like it. I should have known better as colours such as MAC Myth, which so many people love just looks dreadful on me. It is just too light for my skin tone. It was quite a bit lighter than my natural lip colour so maybe I'm just not used to it. It just seemed to blend in too much with my skin. Don't get me wrong, on others it looks gorgeous! If you like MAC Myth, you'll like this as it's similar colour wise. On a plus, it is a really lovely colour to apply as it had nice coverage

Lovely
Lovely is one of my favourite colour that I bought. It is a mid-baby pink colour. It is great because it could be used day or night without it looking too over the top. It just has the right amount of pop to the colour & it's nice & summery. The name says it all, it is just lovely! Application again was great & the coverage was really good

 Vintage
Now Vintage will not be for everyone. It is a very deep vibrant purple. I actually really liked it but it is definitely more of a night lipstick than a daytime one (unless you are super edgy unlike me). I really liked this lipstick. Again, application is nice & coverage is good. You maybe need to spend a little longer perfecting edges with this colour as it is so bold so you need to make sure it's applied perfectly!

Sad Girl
Sad Girl is a very dark purple/red colour with a hint of shimmer. Although I like the shimmer & slight metallicness, this made application a little harder. I found it slightly harder to get crisp edges as the colour wasn't as fluid as the others. Coverage wasn't as good so two coats were required also. I'm not sure this colour is for me as it's a little too dark but again this is definitely one to be worn at night as again it is pretty edgy & bold!

One Coat

Two Coats

I have took a video to show you all how gorgeous & metallic/shimmery the lipstick is.

American Doll
American Doll is a red with a blue base. If I had to compare it to another lipstick I would say it's very similar to MAC Ruby Woo however, I actually prefer the application & look of this product! It glides on really easily but like any red you need to play with it to perfect the edges. It made my lips look really full & glamorous so I'd highly recommend this one!

I hope you have enjoyed reading my post about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks. If I had to re-buy any of these colours again I would get American Doll, Lovely & maybe Vintage as these are the most wearable or suitable colours for me. Price wise they are value for money & are generally a really lovely product. I think I slightly prefer the Lime Crime liquid lipsticks purely because the colour wear is slightly better & they are less drying but I do love the colours available by Anastasia Beverly Hills. I'm sure I'll be buying more in the future! As usual, if you have any questions or comments please send me a message!

My next blog will be on Urban Decay Naked Flushed (Strip) palette & MAC Melon & Tan pigments. These are two gorgeous product which I have recently bought so I can't wait to show you!

Lime Crime Velvetines Review - Faded, Bleached, Riot & Suedeberry

Hello!

Sorry it's been a while (again). I've been super busy with clients & I've been away on holiday. It's nice to be busy though. So today I thought I'd write about my new 4 Lime Crime Velvetines matte lip glosses which I have added to my collection. I bought Faded & Bleached which are new releases as well as Riot & Suedeberry. I bought these direct from Lime Crime. I did not get charged any import tax on these items which I was praying I didn't have to. They too just under 2 weeks to come which isn't too bad considering they come from America.

Packaging
So because I bought them direct from Lime Crime they came in a nice pretty floral box with the Lime Crime logo on the lid & coloured tissue inside.

I didn't know this until I read on Instagram but the box is reversible so the floral print is on the outside & you have a nice reusable Lime Crime box to keep all your make-up goodies in.

So the lip glosses themselves come in the metallic red box with pink roses which is really pretty. The font matches the name of the product "Velvetines" as it is written in a ribbon font which is a nice touch.

The packaging design is continued onto the lipgloss itself. As mentioned in my Cashmere review (click here) the packaging is really fun & different to anything else I've seen. The only limitation is the frosted tube makes it hard to see how much is left but other than that I love the frosted finish of the tube against the metallic red lid.

Left to right:
Cashmere, Faded, Riot, Suede-berry, Bleached

The two new colour (Bleached & Faded) have a flower on the lid also which is a new addition. I really like this as it's just a little extra detail.

Application
The application of the Velvetines are really lovely & velvety. The coverage is amazing & it doesn't dry instantly so you get a minute or so to perfect application. I prefer these to the Anastasia Beverley Hills Liquid Lips as they aren't as drying on the lips. The brush came as a regular lipgloss applicator which allowed for precise application. The only colour that the application wasn't quite as good was Suede-berry which requires a little more play to remove streaks.

Bleached
Bleached is my new favourite colour in the Velvetines range. It is a really gorgeous light peach colour which is just gorgeous for colour. It can be worn day or night so I absolutely love it.

Faded
I was a little disappointed with Faded at first glance as it looked quite similar to Cashmere before I applied it. Admittedly it is similar but it has a more pinky tone rather than a grey undertone. I love Cashmere so I also loved this colour. Again it is a very wearable colour as it is not too in your face, it is a nice colour for day or night. The photo dulls this colour slightly. In person it is a little more pink.

Riot
I really liked Riot. It is a dusty rose/red colour which I love as I have nothing like this colour. This colour be used day or night but I'd maybe sway more towards it as a night colour just because it is a little darker.

Suede-berry
For me Suede-berry was a little on the bright side. It's a very neon coral colour. Maybe I'd feel different with a full face of make-up but for me it is not a lip colour I'd wear during the day. I also found that application was slightly streakier than the other colours so required a little more play to make application perfect.

Swatch comparison
Here are the swatches of my 5 Velvetine colours. Left to right: Cashmere, Faded, Riot, Suede-berry, Bleached. As you can see Cashmere & Faded are actually different although they don't appear so at first glance.
